Facepalming, the act of slapping the palm of one’s hand to the face in exasperation or hilarity, is used very commonly in modern-day society. It was previously believed that a forceful facepalm would shove the nose backward into the brain and cause death. However, as the nose is composed almost completely of pliant cartilage, the worst a facepalm can do is cause severe nasal injury.
